Job Offer and Employment Contract

You must secure a job offer from a company registered in Hungary.

Your employer will provide you with an employment contract, which is a crucial document for your work permit application.

Employer's Role: Labor Market Test

Before hiring a non-EU resident, your employer may need to conduct a labor market test to ensure no suitable EU/EEA candidates are available.

Once approved, your employer must apply for the work permit on your behalf.

Work Permit Application

Your Hungarian employer will submit the work permit application to the Hungarian Immigration and Asylum Office. The application process may include:

Company details and proof of financial capability.

Job position description, qualifications, and salary details.

Visa Application Requirements

After obtaining the work permit, you need to apply for a Type D (long-stay) visa at the Hungarian embassy/consulate in your home country. The required documents generally include:

Valid Passport (at least 6 months validity and 2 blank pages).

Work Permit Approval issued by the Hungarian authorities.

Employment Contract or Letter of Appointment.

Visa Application Form (fully completed and signed).

Passport-Sized Photographs (as per Schengen standards).

Proof of Accommodation (e.g., rental agreement or employer-provided housing).

Flight Itinerary (return ticket).

Travel Insurance (minimum coverage of €30,000 valid in Hungary and the Schengen Area).

Proof of Financial Means (bank statements, salary slips, or employer’s confirmation of sponsorship).

Health Certificate (to prove you are in good health).

Clean Criminal Record (issued by your home country’s authorities).

Biometrics and Visa Interview

You may be required to attend an interview at the Hungarian consulate or embassy.

You will also provide biometric data (fingerprints and photo) during the visa application process.

Processing Time

Visa processing may take up to 60 days, depending on the workload of the embassy/consulate.

Residence Permit After Arrival

Once in Hungary, you must apply for a residence permit within 30 days of arrival.

This allows you to legally reside and work in Hungary for the duration of your contract.

Key Notes

Work Permit Validity: Typically tied to your employment contract, up to a maximum of 2 years, with renewals possible.

Family Reunification: If you wish to bring family members, you must show proof of financial support for them.
